Karen Sarkisian is an expert in the fields of synthetic biology, imaging and optogenetics, as well as doing fundamental research on the relationship between structure and function in proteins and mechanisms of protein evolution.

Karen Sarkisian has extensive experience in the development and application of molecular biology methods: he has created new methods related to deoxyribonucleic acid technologies and has also developed several fluorescent, including genetically encoded, tools for various applications.

Karen Sarkisian participated in describing the first genetically coded bioluminescent system of fungi. Under his guidance and on the basis of the discovered bioluminescence system, the world's first autonomously luminous plants were created. The results of the scientific work of the general director of Cloning Facility company are published in the world's leading journals such as Nature, Nature Biotechnology and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
