Food products from Primorye will be exported to DPRK

36

Food products from Primorye will go for export to DPRK. The day before, Vladivostok entrepreneurs discussed the organization of a regular cargo service with DPRK Consul General Im Cheong-il. The meeting is timed to coincide with the launch of the direct ferry line "Wonsan - Vladivostok". The Korean side is interested in supplies of Russian food products.

The diplomat noted that much work still needs to be done to resolve economic issues, stressing that the countries already have strong ties in politics and culture.

Earlier, Minister for Development of the Far East Alexander Galushka made a proposal to increase trade turnover with the DPRK to $1 billion by 2020.

"Now there are investment projects and a trade turnover plan between our countries. Investment projects are being implemented through the port of Vladivostok, and cargo flows towards the DPRK are being formed. But all this is being done at the level of governments, but there are no programmes at the regional level yet. And we want to find opportunities for economic cooperation with the Primorsky Territory. And there are a number of preferences for Russian business that other countries do not have," said Cheon Ir.

The DPRK Consul General noted that Russian businessmen working with the DPRK may feel completely safe. Vladivostok and Wonsan already have relations in the sphere of tourism, over 200 Russian children each year have a rest in the international children's camp Wonsan.

The DPRK's trade competition, Park Chun Ho, noted that the welfare of citizens is growing along with their purchasing power, as is their interest in Russian products, primarily flour, juices, confectionery, chocolate, sausage products, canned food and soybean oil.

"There have already been first attempts to sell Russian dairy products and sausage products to DPRK. Everything was sold very quickly. But their delivery was carried out by air, which is too costly for the buyer to make up the price. That is why the organization of regular cargo ferry service between Vladivostok and Vonsan and the creation of a large trade and logistics center in Vonsan are timely and very popular concrete steps to enhance economic cooperation. By the way, it takes only three hours from Wonsan to Pyongyang, which makes it possible to expand the market," said Chun Ho Park.

In the near future, the work on the portal will be completed, where Russian entrepreneurs will be able to post information about themselves and the products offered, in addition, business missions will be organized, and in September entrepreneurs will be able to visit the Pyongyang International Trade Fair.

The portal, where Russian entrepreneurs will be able to post information about their companies and offered cargo, is already being finalized. And as soon as the portal is ready for launch, it will be reported through the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development. The question about the organization of the business mission thanks to which the coastal businessmen can see Vonsan's infrastructure, get acquainted with the companies, hear recommendations and wishes about the goods will be solved. In September, Pyongyang will host the 12th Pyongyang Autumn International Trade Fair, which from the point of view of market research and expanding contacts can also be visited by Primorye entrepreneurs.
