The first consignment of maize in the amount of 64,500 tons since Russia was included in the register of permanent exporters of plant products in February 2016 was shipped to Vietnam from Novorossiysk.

"This event was preceded by difficult and painstaking work of Rosselkhoznadzor. The difficulty was the entry into force of changes in the procedure for admitting grain products to the Vietnamese market. With the active assistance of the Service, since February 2016 Russia has been included in the permanent register of exporters of plant products, including grain and products of its processing, as required by the Vietnamese legislation", - said a representative of the Department.

According to the study of the agency, Vietnam is one of the most promising directions of the export of vegetable crops, including wheat and corn, which have not been previously exported from Russia.

"The steadily growing population, lack of own production, as well as the development of the meat industry, hence the need for feed - all this makes Vietnam extremely attractive market for domestic grain products. Taking into account the growing potential of the Russian grain export, the Rosselkhoznadzor will continue to promote, within the scope of its powers, the export of domestic grain to Vietnam and all other new promising markets," explained the Rosselkhoznadzor.
