In 2016, the Astrakhan agro-industrial complex produced goods worth over 40 billion rubles. At the same time, exports from the region increased by more than 5 times.

"This year we produced and sold 20 thousand tons of pond fish, 10 tons of caviar and 450 tons of sturgeon meat. Export of dried fish and black caviar increased significantly", - said Alexander Zhilkin, Governor of the Astrakhan Region, within the framework of the final report for 2016.

To develop exports in the region a comprehensive modernization of infrastructure, improving the quality of breeding and genetic work, as well as training personnel.

"About three thousand students annually study agricultural specialties," the governor said.
