The vast majority of children in Russia — 88.5 percent — regularly play sports. This, according to the official website of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation, was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko. The release notes that the Ministry of Sports prepares summary statistics by region every year.

According to Chernyashenko, on behalf of President Vladimir Putin, a concept for the development of youth sports until 2030 has been developed and approved in the country, according to which development programs operate in the subjects.

"The priority task in the implementation of the concept is to involve as many children as possible in sports, starting from the earliest years," says the Deputy Prime Minister. - At the moment, about 24.3 million children are systematically engaged in physical education in Russia – this is 88.5 percent." According to the official, by 2030, the number of children and youth involved in sports will exceed 90 percent. It is also known that more than 3.2 million children are professionally and systematically engaged in sports schools. Children are especially active in Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as in the Rostov and Sverdlovsk regions, Krasnodar Krai and Dagestan.

By the end of the year, more than 100 sports and recreation complexes, football fields and ice rinks will be opened in the country. As part of the new federal project "Business Sprint", smart sports grounds and modular halls are appearing in the regions. 190 sports grounds and modular halls are already being built, and their number will increase to 1.5 thousand by 2030.
