China purchased Russian equipment for oil production

15

The day before two contracts for supply of vibration generators for oil liquefaction were signed at once between the Institute of Mining Engineering of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Xinjiang Xinyitong Petroleum Technology, the largest oil company in China.

The equipment that will be supplied to China has been developed by scientists from the Novosibirsk Research and Engineering Centre for Mining Machines and Geotechnologies at the IGD. Its main task is to speed up the oil production, as well as to filter the raw material layers. Vibration generators can be used under fluid pressure in wells with depths over three kilometres.

China is planning to use the technology developed by Russian scientists to produce viscous oil which is not displaced by water due to its dense structure. In order to displace bituminous oil from the formation, specialists inject bacteria into the well for three months which will liquefy the oil.

Vibration generators emit special vibrations which affect the oil beds and accelerate the process of bacteria spreading through them, thus speeding up the oil yield.

Russian scientists purposely adapted the equipment, originally made for Russian conditions, for China.
