Russian robots started working in UAE police and Turkish airport

The domestic company Promobot has developed two robots which have been exported abroad. One of them now works for law enforcement agencies in Abu Dhabi, and the other one at Istanbul airport.

So, the police robot is engaged in patrolling, monitoring police officers and visitors on surveillance cameras, as well as measuring temperature and observing law and order. The robot is bilingual, as it can speak two languages - English and Arabic. The developers emphasized that the service robot they created is the only one that speaks Arabic.

According to Abu Dhabi Police Executive Director Suhail Al-Khaili, the robot facilitated the work of police officers by taking over routine patrol duties, and also allowed to minimize contact with people during the pandemic.

Due to the special linguistic base implemented in the robot, it can understand and answer questions and recognize faces. For example, it "knows by sight" all police officers, visitors and wanted lawbreakers.

The second promotional robot, which is "on duty" at Istanbul airport, scans tickets and helps to find the way to the boarding gate or to orientate oneself in the terminal. It also tells you about the rules of conduct and security and can help you call a taxi.

Unlike its "counterpart" in Abu Dhabi, this domestic robot is a polyglot and "speaks" five languages at once, including Turkish and Spanish.

Promobot's official representative in Turkey, Selcuk Yaran said that annually about 30 million passengers visit the airport. Digitalization allows you to cope with such a load, because it frees the staff from monotonous work. The robot's special feature is that it is able to move around the airport, avoiding obstacles even where many people congregate.
