The Arkhyz and Elbrus brands will become drivers of development in the North Caucasus

A delegation from the Russian Ministry of Economic Development visited the two republics in the North Caucasus and discussed their development.

As the first deputy head of department Mikhail Babich mentioned about the plans of development of regions, that it is necessary to increase efficiency of resorts, profitability and investment attractiveness of Karachaevo-Cherkessia and Kabardino-Balkaria for potential residents. He stressed that the two main points of the subjects - Arkhyz and Elbrus - should become drivers of growth of the economies of these regions.

This, according to him, will attract investments and, ultimately, lead to the growth of the population's well-being.

For instance, on Elbrus new infrastructure will continue to be built, the number of lifts in the ski resort will triple to nine, and the length of ski tracks will double to 31 km by 2025. Subsequently, the flow of tourists in general is expected to increase at least twice, up to 885 thousand people. Also, special attention during the development will be paid to the development of the North Caucasus Mountain Club, where climbers undergo adaptation on the eve of climbing.

Today Arkhyz includes more than 140 infrastructure objects, among which there are over 25 kilometers of ski tracks, six lifts, artificial snow making systems. Every year, the number of visitors here increases by an average of almost a third; last year it exceeded 373,000 people.

According to the master plan, two tourist villages will appear in the resort and the already built Dukka village will be developed, their total potential is about 100 km of ski slopes.
