A Canadian company is localizing production in Russia

A new major producer of French fries may appear in Russia.

It is a Canadian company McCain, which is a world leader in this field. It has set up a structure for the construction of an enterprise in the Tula Region and has started work on the project, according to the Unified State Register of Legal Entities (USRLE).

According to the media, the localization will make it possible to earn extra money on the low potato prices in the RF and reduce the logistics costs, but there may be problems with the quality of the raw material.

The production is planned to be launched in the Uzlovaya Special Economic Zone.

In addition to potato processing, the organization established in June, called McCain Foods Rus, will also be involved in the production of ready-to-eat meals.

According to Kommersant, the conditions for investors include zero import duty and VAT rate until 2065, with an income tax rate of 2% in the first ten years.

The McCain company appeared in Canada in the late 1950s, it was created by the McCain family. Now it consists of more than fifty plants all over the world, including those in the European Union. Its global turnover exceeds 7 billion US dollars. Today, the organization has a distribution unit in the Russian Federation, which last year received more than 3 billion rubles in revenue and about 290 million rubles in net profit.

It should be noted that it is not the first time that the information that the company intends to launch the production of potato semi-finished products appears. However, it is the first time that McCain has set up a project company.
