Armenia has opened an enterprise where AK-103 automatic rifles are now produced. The country has become the first among the states in the South Caucasus region where these weapons are now produced.

About 50 thousand AK-103 rifles will be produced here annually.

Armenian Prime Minister, Russian Trade Representative to Armenia, heads of the Armenian Ministries of Defense and High-Tech Industry, as well as Russian Ambassador to Armenia, Kalashnikov Concern representative Igor Gordienko and Russian Technologies State Corporation representative attended the opening ceremony on Tuesday.

According to Gordienko, the concern intends to expand the industrial zone in Kotayk marz. In addition, he told about the plans for production. Thus, according to him, for example, about 150 ml cartridges will be produced each year. In addition to that, armored vehicles and trucks will be repaired here in the future.

During the opening of the new enterprise the participants got acquainted with the modernized production and assembly phases of AK-103.

Traditionally, the countries have a high level of trust in technology and are colleagues in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

In 2013, the parties entered into an agreement to develop cooperation in the military-technical sector.
