Europe's first shrimp production was launched in Russia

An incubator where shrimp fry are raised has been launched in Crimea. The Crimean enterprise has no counterparts and is the only one in Europe.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, head of the Ministry of Agriculture of the region Andrey Ryumshin, the production was founded by Crimean fishermen's collective farm named after Crimean partisans. According to him, the fish farmers have already achieved the first results. Thus, they have managed to breed first 4 million baby shrimps.

In future it is planned not only to breed them, but also to grow in their own ponds. For example, 20 million shrimps are planned to be hatched in 2020. The company has set a goal to breed 400 million shrimps annually.

Last year the farming cooperative managed to breed about 100 tons of products. It is expected that by the end of this year this figure will double and reach 200 tons.

The Minister noted that this Crimean enterprise is a leader in its field, not only among Russian companies, but also in Europe.

We would remind you that for the first 6 months of the current year more than 1,2 million tons of Pollack were caught in the Far East, and by the end of the year this amount will increase by 600 thousand tons. These indexes exceed last year's figures by 10%.

This fish is one of the most popular in Russia, it accounts for over 35% of the total catch in the country.
