New threshold of minimum land plots for agricultural producers in Kuban established

The minimum land allotment threshold for agricultural production has been set in Kuban. A single plot must now be no less than 1.5 hectares.

Such a proposal was made by Veniamin Kondratiev, Governor of the Krasnodar Region. Legislative Assembly agreed with such initiative and enshrined the norm in the regional law.

Local authorities explained that, previously, there was no information stipulating the minimal land plot limitation, as all the requirements for farmland plots were too general.

According to the authorities, this was manipulated by the interested parties in order to build houses and other real estate on the fertile land.

In addition, the law now clearly defines which agricultural land plots are considered especially valuable.

According to Yuri Burlachko, Head of the local Parliament, adoption of the new regulation will have a positive impact on land preservation and will prevent "grey" schemes for withdrawal of lands from agricultural designation, thus protecting them from inappropriate use.

Burlachko added that a number of communities in the Krasnodar region are experiencing a shortage of vacant land for housing development, but the creation of new housing estates and the expansion of towns should not occur at the expense of the land intended for the agrarians.
