Companies from Russia and Spain have reinvested RUB 4 billion in the Tambov region

Cherkizovo Group and Spain's Grupo Fuertes launched the second stage of their joint venture, Tambov Turkey. A total of RUB 4 billion was invested in production.

In less than a year, the companies built the first buildings of a new complex in Pervomaisky District, which will include three sites for fattening birds, a site for rearing, a hatchery and a workshop for slaughtering.

It is planned that in the middle of next year, the capacity will increase by 50% to 85 thousand tons of meat per year due to the opening of new sites.

Construction on the first stage consists of an incubator, 4 sites for growing and 9 sites for fattening. It also includes a feed mill, an elevator and a slaughter and dressing facility. Within the second phase, additional site for growing and three sites for fattening will appear, together with incubator and slaughter shop capacities will be expanded.

Recall that since 2012 domestic and Spanish companies have invested over 15 billion rubles in the development of turkey production at the plant. The company has allocated extra 4 billion rubles for the next stage of development.

The Cherkizovo management believes that the construction of the third stage will cost the same amount as the second one.

It was previously stated that the enterprise will be able to produce 130 thousand tons of meat annually. After the launch within the first stage, the production capacity is 55 thousand tons per year, after the second stage the figure will increase to 85 thousand tons.

As Sergey Mikhailov, the head of Cherkizovo group, pointed out, the construction has been deliberately divided into three parts, so that no acute overproduction occurs in the market. The turkey market is a niche market, so if Russian consumers gradually get used to this type of meat and demand grows, as it has been over the past few years, then, according to Mikhailov, companies will begin to prepare the third stage.
