VEB.RF and Skolkovo started training management teams of Russian cities

VEB.Russia together with Skolkovo Business School launched a management training program for a hundred of the country's largest cities on Tuesday, July 21.

Over the entire period 500 city managers will be trained here. In the first stream teams from 30 Russian cities will be trained. At the end of the training, they will carry out projects to improve the city's economy and comfortable environment, in order to use the acquired knowledge in reality and to bring their settlements to a higher level of development.

Each team consists of the leader, who is the mayor, his or her deputies responsible for key spheres, and other representatives of the local authorities responsible for urban planning and architectural policy.

The training is divided into 14 modules in 5 thematic blocks and will take place both face-to-face and online. During the training, the participants will be able to consult with the leading specialists of VEB.RF and development institutes which are engaged in economic projects in the cities.

As First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko said, in today's economic and global environment, cities are drivers of development, with the right stages of development leading to the growth of the territory around them. According to him, the main purpose and idea of the training are to involve city leaders and their teams in the search for solutions for the most effective development of cities.

According to Igor Shuvalov, Chairman of VEB.RF, the programme for training of monocities was taken as a basis and it has already proved to be effective. He explained that the training is in compliance with the MPA (Master of Public Administration) international standards. According to him, the teams will carry out the projects related to city infrastructure, housing, waste management, economy and business.

Andrei Sharonov, President of the Skolkovo Moscow School of Management, said that the program will be the most ambitious for the institution ever and will affect the lives of more than 60 million residents in more than 100 Russian cities.
