Russia Discusses Creation of Food Hub with UAE
Ara Melikyan, Russia's trade representative in the UAE, visited the Khalifa port industrial zone in Abu Dhabi the other day. During the visit, the possibilities of a potential project to create a Russian food hub - a wholesale and distribution centre - in this place were discussed.
In this case we are talking about possible leasing of refrigerated warehouses and construction or use of elevators to store grain in order to further sell domestic products in the UAE and nearby countries. Besides, the project can become a link of the program on creation of UAE strategic food reserve in future.
In the course of the negotiations employees of the port and representatives of AbuDhabiPorts Company, which is the operator of the port, told about the scheme of the functioning industrial zone, as well as what premises there are and which are planned to be built in the future. In addition, Melikyan learned about the infrastructure of the territory, the rules of obtaining a license, the terms of leasing offices and warehouses, and the opportunities for projects with Russian participation.
It is noted that the hub may be partially localized for food product processing in future.
At the same time localization of pharmaceutical production in the industrial zone is being discussed now. This may arouse the potential interest of specialized domestic enterprises.
Earlier it became known that 5 Russian companies from Vladimir region have expressed their intention to introduce their production to French market. The question is about the glass enterprise "Eva-Glass", diet food producer "Diet-Prom", plywood plant in Kerzach which processes wood, water purification system company "RM-Nanotech", and paint and varnish supplier "Acrylan".
The local enterprises were told about the details of doing business in a foreign country and certification procedures for products and learnt what difficulties might arise when entering the French market.
