Russia successfully tested an unmanned cyclo-plane

Russia has successfully tested an unmanned vertical takeoff and landing cyclo-plane. This was announced by the Director General of the Advanced Research Foundation Andrey Grigoriev.

According to him, the apparatus demonstrator has already taken off and such tests have shown that this carrier scheme is workable and promising.

He noted that the cyclolet has several additional advantages over the helicopter, namely - better maneuverability, significantly smaller dimensions and protected propulsion devices, it gives the vehicle an opportunity to operate at close range to the buildings and other obstacles.

Soon cyclolet will be demonstrated to the participants and guests of the international military-technical forum "Army-2020", concluded Grigoriev.

Two years ago, the Advanced Research Fund approved the project on creation of a demonstrator of an unmanned aerial vehicle for vertical takeoff and landing with cyclic propulsion systems (cyclolet).

It was reported earlier that scientists from Chelyabinsk, South Ural Federal University, modelled a possibly promising material for hydrogen storage tanks which are usually used for transportation.

Experts expect that in the future hydrogen may become an effective and at the same time environmentally friendly carrier of energy. However, in order for this to happen it is necessary to solve the issue of the location of large amounts of hydrogen in a compact and safe storage, where it is allowed to transport this substance. It is worth noting that the technologies that are currently available - liquefaction and storage under pressure - do not make it possible to organize storage facilities that would meet such requirements.
