Nizhny Novgorod Region increased exports by 6.8%

The volume of non-resource non-energy exports in Nizhny Novgorod Region increased to $74 million in the first five months of this year. This is 6.8% higher compared to the same period in 2019.

At the same time, the region's total exports in the first five months of 2020 amounted to $1.16 billion, the region's governor Gleb Nikitin said.

He stressed the importance of the fact that the Nizhny Novgorod region, despite the pandemic, not only maintained the performance of foreign shipments, but also significantly improved its own position.

According to him, a year earlier the region ranked 19th among other Russian constituent entities by these indicators, and in 2020 the region moved up to 15th position. At the same time, among the regions of the Volga Federal District, the Nizhny Novgorod Region was in second place, a year earlier it was in third place.

The leader among foreign countries, which bought products of the Russian region, was Belorussia. Nizhny Novgorod products worth $252 million were exported to this country, followed by China ($184 million), Bangladesh and Uzbekistan ($85 million each).

Sales of mechanical equipment and machinery manufactured in the region increased by 26% and sunflower oil by 16%, 3 times for data carriers, 2.4 times for printing products and 4 times for special automotive equipment.
