Fertilizer plant to be opened in Leningrad region

Large chemical company "EuroChem" plans to open an enterprise in the Leningrad region, where it will produce fertilizers, the regional government said.

According to plans, new capacities will be launched in the town of Kingisepp on the basis of Phosphorit plant. It is planned to produce 1 million tons of ammonia, 1.4 million tons of granulated carbamide and 1.7 million tons of methanol.

It is planned to allocate 105 billion rubles, or about $1.5 billion, for the project. The construction will be launched by the end of 2020 and will last until early or mid-2023.

The new project will be a continuation of the first 1 million tonne ammonia project, which was launched in the summer of 2019.

Each of these investment projects is linked to the renovation of the company's production site and the development of urea exports to European markets and North and Latin America.

In 2017, EuroChem established a presence in Bulgaria and then began to introduce its own products to other countries on the Mediterranean coast. In addition, our subsidiary in Brazil, Fertilizantes Tocantins, launched new production in Latin America in 2019.
