Rosmorrechflot told about the prospects for the development of maritime and tourism industries in Kamchatka

Head of the Federal Agency of Sea and River Transport Alexander Poshivay met with Acting Governor of Kamchatka Region Vladimir Solodov and Head of the Region's Ministry of Transport Vladimir Kayumov.

One of the main topics of the conversation was prospects of the region development in relation to fishery, tourism and marine areas.

Thus, during the meeting was discussed lifting and disposal of sunken vessels in order to eliminate the accumulated damage to the environment in the waters of the seaport and the Avacha Bay. The lifting of ships and their wrecks is currently identified as a priority, especially in the vicinity of the remote Ust-Kamchatsk terminal, where most of the abandoned ships are located.

In addition, the authorities discussed how the construction of a ferry and a cargo-passenger ship that would operate all year round between the Kuril Islands and the Commander Islands is progressing, and touched upon issues of a cargo berth at the remote Ossora marine terminal

Another subject of the negotiations was the need to replenish the auxiliary fleet, given the likely increase in cargo turnover due to the cargo that transits the Northern Sea Route. This is primarily a question of port tugboats.
