A new Russian electric locomotive passed successful tests

Sinara's new 2ES6 series locomotive with a booster section has successfully passed tests, the relevant acts have been signed by the acceptance committee.

Thanks to the booster section, which the new vehicle has, it will be possible to increase the capacity of traction rolling stock, while minimizing the costs of its maintenance. Besides, due to such section the load on the railway infrastructure will be reduced.

Today 2ES6 double-section electric locomotives operate on the railways almost all over Russia, including the Central part and Siberia.

Sinara's fleet of electric locomotives in the regional directorates is now one of the largest and includes over 1 thousand machines. The new equipment is expected to be used to drive freight trains weighing 7,100 tons on the section between Inskaya and Mariinsk, where other four-section electric locomotives were previously in operation.

At the first stage of testing, they observed whether the new machine meets the technical specifications. Then the transport was tested in operation on the railway. In particular, the level of impact of the electric locomotive on the tracks was checked so that the permissible values were not exceeded. Also during the tests, smooth running values were monitored and braking distances in case of emergency were tested.

During the final tests, experts examined the electric locomotive for compliance with fire safety requirements and the promptness of response of electrical equipment protection during emergency modes. Preservation of the locomotive performance and safety in case of equipment and software failures was also assessed.

At the stage of preliminary tests the machine showed an increase in performance by 25% as compared to the conventional configuration.
