In Magnitogorsk, construction and installation work has been completed at the newest plant where liquefied natural gas (LNG) will be produced for Novatek-Chelyabinsk.

The plant will produce LNG and purified natural gas for industrial and domestic use, including as motor fuel.

This work was carried out by Koksokhimmontazh, and it took 16 months to build and install.

Sergey Fufaev, Director General of the Koksokhimmontazh Trust, said that the start-up of such a high-tech facility confirms the possibility to create unique, environmentally friendly industrial production facilities only by the efforts of Russian companies.

The plant will become another step in the implementation of the import substitution program, since the design documentation was developed exclusively by Russian companies.

Before the launch of the new Magnitogorsk plant, only large-scale liquefied natural gas projects were in operation in the Russian Federation. We are talking about Sakhalin-2 and Yamal LNG. Also recently an LNG terminal has been commissioned in the Leningrad oblast.
