Red Danish cow breed started to be bred in Udmurtia

In Udmurtia the number of cow breeds bred in the region has increased. Now the red Danish cattle breed can be found here.

At the moment this breed, bred in Denmark, is considered to be one of the best for producing a large volume of high quality milk, from which cheese will be produced.

"Foreign" cows were brought to the republic in the middle of last month. The first 160 heifers were received by ecological farm "Dubrovskoye". Agrarians will receive 113 more cows at the end of September.

Now the animals are under quarantine which will be ended on September 12. After that they will be transferred to the new premises of a large cattle-breeding complex for 1.2 thousand cows.

As farmers said, this cattle breed is distinguished by the fact that these cows have the best ratio of health and milk digestibility. According to Anatoly Nosulenko, the owner of Dubrovskoye, production of premium cheese which the farm is going to produce requires special raw materials with high fat and protein content. The milk of a Danish cow has a fat content of up to 4% and mass fraction of protein exceeding 3%, he explained.
