Russia increased export of cheese and cottage cheese by 12% in the first half of the year

Exports of cheese and cottage cheese from Russia in the first six months increased by 12% compared to the data for the same period in 2019. This is reported on the website of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.

In just six months, the country has sold more than 13 thousand of these products to foreign markets, with a total value of about 43 million rubles.

The main sectors in the structure of sales outside Russia, according to the Center of Agricultural Products Export Development under the Ministry, are young cheeses, including immature or unripe, and cottage cheese. Exports of these products increased by 11%, to $19 million. At the same time, exports of processed cheese rose by 10%, to $15 million. The sales of other cheeses to other countries amounted to about $9 million, the increase in this case is 18%.

Mostly Russian-made cheese and cottage cheese is bought by the neighboring countries. Thus, almost half of the total volume is accounted for by Kazakhstan, which increased its purchases by 16%, to $21 million.

In the top ten importers of domestic cheese in 2020 for the first time was China. To this Asian country was sold cheese from Russia in the amount of almost $370 thousand. This is 4 times more compared to 2019.

In total, at the moment more than 20 countries are importers of Russian cheese.
