A total of 20 land reclamation projects will be launched in the Stavropol Territory in 2020. Their total cost will be about RUB 2 billion. Thus, a modern irrigation system will appear on the territory of more than nine hectares.

According to Vladimir Sitnikov, head of the regional ministry of agriculture, the regional budget for this purpose provides more than 1 billion rubles. Also in this sector, there are already 20 applications for 2021, so, according to him, irrigation system could appear on more than 12 thousand hectares, the project cost of which is 2.7 billion rubles.

It is noted that in prospect 23 more potential projects are being developed for the sum of about 5 billion rubles.

According to the agency's data, the area of irrigated lands in the region by the end of last year was about 250 thousand hectares. However, as authorities admit, in fact the reclamation system works only on 70 thousand hectares. The remaining part is in need of complete replacement.
