Kolchuginsky Electrocable Plant received the fifteenth certificate for cables for nuclear power plants (NPPs). This refers to 1 kV power cables with cross-linked polyethylene insulation.

According to Anatoly Barinov, the plant's chief technologist, the main characteristic of these products is fire resistance and flame retardancy. Due to the fact that the casing is made of halogen-free polymer compositions, in case of fire these cables will not emit gases of halogen acids that can upset the microprocessor equipment.

He noted that the certified products can be used in the pressurized zone of the NPP or, in other words, directly inside the reactor building.

Each year the plant produces more than 600 kilometers of cables for nuclear power plants, including power control and installation cables.
