Russia has developed a project for a floating gas-fired power plant

The Central Design Bureau "Aisberg" has completed the design of a floating thermal power plant (FTPP) powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The power plant will have the capacity of 60 MW and will be used for supplying of the coastal territories of the country with the electric power.

According to the design bureau, the power plant will last 40 years.

The FTPS consists of a 82-meter long power plant vessel with a total displacement of almost 3,600 tons and a floating LNG storage facility.

It has an installed generating capacity of 64 MW and supplies 60 MW to the onshore grid.

The storage vessel is over 77 metres long and 20 metres wide with a gross tonnage of over 4,800 tonnes. The tanks of the storage ship can hold up to 2,000 tons of liquefied natural gas.
