St. Petersburg factory has developed its own 3D printer

Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant in St. Petersburg has developed its own 3D printer and has already started operating it.

As Anatoly Uzdimaev, head of the enterprise's additive technology shop, said, the printer has a high printing speed - at least 150 square meters per hour, and the maximum web size is 2x1.3 meters.

The equipment has been tested for ten months and during that period it has demonstrated stable results. Uzdimaev said that the printer is the second in the fleet of additive manufacturing equipment.

Now 3D printer is used within the pilot, and in the future the technology is planned to be used for production of carcasses and cylinder blocks. Next year the plant expects to increase production volumes twofold.
