Russia claims to be a leader in the development of artificial intelligence, said Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economic Development Oksana Tarasenko.

Thus, according to her, the country has every chance to claim leadership in the development of artificial intelligence. The deputy minister explained that this is positively influenced by "a strong school of science and competence in the field of modeling and programming. It is also facilitated by the growing number of specialists working with such intelligence.

Tarasenko pointed out that due to the use of machine intelligence, efficiency of planning processes, managerial decision-making and automation of routine processes increases.

She said that the State shall support the sphere, in particular, they provide various grants for creation and development of solutions in this sphere in the amount up to RUR20mln. On the whole, it is planned to assist almost 600 start-ups at the state level.

Besides, Skolkovo Foundation intends to give 50 grants till 2024 for pilot testing of solutions in the field of artificial intelligence, the maximum size of one of them will make 100 million rubles.

At the same time, Tarasenko pointed to the need to provide favourable legal conditions for data access, including special regimes for research and development, legal conditions and procedures for simplified testing and implementation of artificial intelligence solutions, as well as to remove barriers to the export of such products.
