An expedition took place aboard the nuclear-powered lighter carrier "Sevmorput" from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky to St. Petersburg.

During the expedition, specialists from Rusatom Cargo collected data for technical-simulation modeling of the route of the Northern Sea Transit Corridor (NSTC). It is designed for the exchange of goods between Europe and Asia via the Northern Sea Route.

Earlier it was reported that the NSR involves construction of a fleet of Arctic Arc7-class ice-class container ships and construction of two transshipment port hubs in the north-west and north-east of the country. The launch of the corridor in pilot operation is scheduled for 2024.
