Melitta's "Yanex" series indoor disinfection units for export successfully resisted the COVID-19 pandemic abroad

Moscow Research and Production Enterprise "Melitta" company, which exports "Yanex" series pulsed UV disinfection units with xenon lamps, has received the first report on successful application of the company's development against spread of COVID-19 pandemic infection abroad.

"In connection with the pandemic COVID-19 to our company began receiving numerous requests from foreign partners to deliver units not only for the disinfection of the premises of foreign clinics, but also for their use in other industries. To date, the units have been successfully used in South Africa, Italy, Ireland, Israel, Romania for disinfection of the premises of emergency clinics, air ambulance helicopters, and ambulances," said the representative of the company.

He specified that in August 2020, the company received the first report on the successful use of the Yanex-5 portable unit developed by NPP "Melitta" in three five-star hotels in London (UK).

In the near future, the company plans to enter the medical markets of South America, Asia, the EU and the CIS.

About export

Since 2018, the company NPP "Melitta" began supplying export models of pulsed UV units with xenon lamps series "Yanex" abroad. One of the main conditions for entering the foreign market is the confirmation of their effectiveness in accredited foreign laboratory centers.

"One of the leading foreign accredited laboratory test centers - Israeli Aminolab center - has conducted relevant tests and confirmed the efficiency of export models (mobile "Yanex-2M" and portable "Yanex-5") in respect of the most common clinically significant microorganisms," - explained the company.

Russian Scientific Production Enterprise (SPE) "Melitta" is the only full cycle enterprise in Russia, which develops and serially produces pulsed ultraviolet systems with xenon lamps for disinfection of air and surfaces.

Numerous Russian and foreign patents confirm the global priority of pulsed plasma-optical technology developed by the company and pulsed UV units created on its basis.

The company's quality management system is certified to ISO standards, and products are labelled with CE, ETL marks in accordance with the requirements of European and international standards.

Company history

In 1991 specialists of Melitta in cooperation with the Institute of Power Engineering of Bauman Moscow State Technical University developed the world's first samples of pulsed ultraviolet devices with xenon lamps. In 2003 this technology got its final form and was registered by Melitta Research and Production Enterprise at the Ministry of Health of Russian Federation.

Since 2005, the company started mass production of various models of Alfa series units (mobile, portable and stationary) and their introduction into practical health care and space medicine. The efficiency of the technology is proven in numerous studies performed on the basis of the leading Russian and foreign accredited laboratory centers and clinics.

Since 2015, the company has taken an active part in the ExoMars international space program to eliminate the threat of Mars contamination by bacterial spores capable of surviving in the extreme conditions of outer space.

Since 2018, the company has been mass-producing a new generation of pulsed UV units of the "Alpha" series, and has also started to independently introduce export models of the "Yanex" series abroad.

At present more than 3 000 units are successfully operated in more than 500 medical organizations of Russia, and export models of "Yanex" series units are working in clinics in South Africa, Italy, Ireland, Great Britain, Mexico, Romania, Israel and Kazakhstan.
