Zainsk sugar plant intends to increase labor productivity by almost a third

One of the largest sugar producers in Russia, Zainskiy Sugar, plans to increase labor productivity by 30% in the next three years. This was reported to the "Made in Russia" project by the plant's press service.

The enterprise became a participant of the national project on labor productivity and employment support.

According to Anton Troshin, Deputy General Director for Zainsk Sugar of Agrosila Holding, the implementation of the national project at the enterprise is designed for 3 years. The active phase with the participation of experts from the Federal Centre of Competences, according to him, takes place in the first six months.

In particular, the Center's specialists will tell how to use lean production principles and tools that are aimed at increasing labor productivity.

According to the press service, the plant started implementing lean production since 2014. Due to the analysis of equipment breakdowns during the sugar season, it was possible to identify the main reasons for stoppages and decrease in beet processing productivity. As a result, new work schedules for maintenance of all equipment with detailed descriptions of specific steps were drawn up.

In addition, there were developed regulations on the involvement of employees in continuous improvement, regulations on the initiation and implementation of kaizen projects, 5C workplace organization system and standardization of all processes.

As Troshin explained, the plant has created "quality circles" where problems that affect production efficiency and product quality are identified.

"During the sugar season, each station has been equipped with SFM boards with key process indicators, which are updated hourly by operators," he said, adding that due to this, in case of problems, they can be solved faster.

Special technology is used in the warehouses to improve stock levels and build the chain of production planning.
