Russia proposed that South Korean companies together develop unmanned technology

Alexey Rakhmanov, General Director of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC), invited his South Korean colleagues to join the activities on development of crew-free navigation.

The Russian segment of the IT market, he said, increased by 7% to $25 billion last year. This is comparable to the total trade turnover between Russia and Korea in the same year.

However, domestic companies have software products that could be in demand among Korean colleagues, Rakhmanov said.

In particular, he paid special attention to the conditions in Russia for the development of Crewless navigation technologies.

He reminded that Russia was one of the first countries to allocate special areas of sea and river water areas. Thanks to it, it became possible to test crew-free vessels. The Head of OSK invited South Korean companies to join this work.

Korean Deputy Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Park Ki Young pointed out the need to work together in the areas of digitalization, information and communication technologies and new materials after the pandemic.
