A milk processing plant for 2.5 billion rubles will be built in Tatarstan, the press service of the Republican Investment Development Agency said.

Now the region, according to the head of the agency Talia Minullina, is on the first line in Russia in terms of milk production. A total of 17 hectares are being used for the new project in the Kulayevsky rural settlement.

About 2.5 billion roubles have been invested into the project. The launching of the new plant will create about 250 new jobs in the republic.

The plant will process more than 60 million liters of milk, about 9 million kilograms of dried milk and more than 11 million kilograms of cheese annually. Most of these products will be sold in Tatarstan.

The republican government also supported a project on production of ultrapasteurized milk in PET bottles, whole milk powder and cheese production in Pestrecha district of the region.

The project has already been approved by the head of Tatarstan.
