The Federation Council named the main problem faced by shipbuilders in the country. According to Andrey Kutepov, Chairman of the Council of Federation Committee on Economic Policy, it is wear and tear of production facilities.

Thus, he pointed out that many main facilities are obsolete and need reconstruction and upgrading. Despite this, about 60% of obsolete and 80% of physically worn-out equipment is now used in the sphere, added Kutepov.

This statement was made by Head of the Committee during the round table discussion on creation of conditions for increasing competitiveness of the domestic shipbuilding industry in the global economy. The participants of the event were senators Sergey Mitin, Ivan Abramov and Konstantin Dolgov, CEO of the United Shipbuilding Corporation Aleksey Rakhmanov and representatives of relevant ministries and enterprises.
