The new season started at the Russian ski resort Arkhyz. On the opening day it was visited by 2.5 thousand people, five times more than last year.

Two ski slopes on the southern slope in the tourist village of Romantic have been prepared for the fans of active recreation. However, five slopes are closed for now and ski passes are sold at a promotional rate.

North and South slopes will be available till the end of December. Overall there are over 25 kilometers of slopes of all difficulty levels. All of them are equipped with a special snow melting system.

Holidaymakers can attend the school of instructors, rent equipment for skiing or snowboarding, and paragliding and snowmobile tours are also available.

At the moment, according to Khasan Timizhev, the general director of the Northern Caucasus Resorts managing company, the pistes which are still closed for fans of active recreation, are 30-70 % ready.

A total of two new ropeways are planned to be opened in Arkhyz this season. In addition, the catering system will undergo major changes; the free shuttle bus to the village of Arkhyz will be launched, the Flybusteam service for seamless transfer from the airport will operate, and a tubing centre, a snow park, and an ice rink will be opened.

The system of ski-pass sales has also been optimized: Tourists will now be able to purchase skipasses for the lifts and refill their personal cards online.
