The first fully low-floor tram begins testing in Russia

The presentation of a new model of low-floor tramway Korsar was held at the Nevsky Pirotsky Electric Transport Plant.

The transport will be suitable for use not only in Russian cities, but also in Europe. However, it will start carrying the first passengers in Kaliningrad, as that is where the first tests of the innovative tram will be held.

This electric transport is the first in the country fully low-floor two-section tram. It is designed for the narrow-gauge tracks with the width of 1 meter.

During its development, the latest drive mechanism technologies were used. For the first time in the domestic car building the interior was made of aluminium alloys. That makes the new model the most fireproof and wearproof one in its segment.

Low floor makes the vehicle not only accessible for the people with limited mobility, but also increases the ride comfort and reduces noise during the motion.

The new low floor tramcar has no analogues in the domestic market, declared Felix Vinokur, the president of "Transport Systems" to which the plant belongs. He pointed out that an improved climate control system has been integrated into the cabin and an advanced multimedia system has been installed. In addition, the cars are equipped with USB sockets and Wi-Fi routers.

The trams have a seating capacity of almost 180 persons.
