Uzbekistan to launch metallurgical plant built with Russian support

The Tashkent Metallurgical Plant (TMP), built with the state support of Russia, will be launched on Friday, December 4. Its annual production capacity will be 500 thousand tons of rolled steel.

The plant is of high strategic importance for the industry of this country, as the products manufactured here will be used in the automotive industry, as well as by manufacturers of household appliances and in the construction segment, said Nikita Gusakov, senior vice president of the Russian Export Center Group and general director of EXIAR, the Russian insurance agency.

The creation of this plant was the first turnkey project in steel construction, which was implemented abroad by Russian EPC contractor, he said in an interview with Sputnik Uzbekistan.

About 30 producers and suppliers of equipment and one thousand people were involved in the construction of TMP.

For the design of production lines of the plant, purchase of equipment in Russia and construction and installation work, Roseximbank issued a loan of 164 million euros with EXIAR insurance coverage.

According to the General Director of the domestic insurance agency, the company will have a positive impact on industrial cooperation between the two countries, because it will increase demand for Russian hot-rolled steel, which will be used in the production of finished products TMP.

The project was implemented with the support of EXIAR and Roseximbank, which belong to the REC.
