Paraguay has signed a contract with the Russian Direct Investment Fund for the supply of a domestic drug against coronavirus Sputnik V. This was announced by Julio Mazzoleni, the head of the Ministry of Health of the South American country.

He noted that later dates and volume of delivery would be specified.

The head of the ministry added that another drug for the same infection AstraZeneca will arrive in the country in the second half of February through the COVAX mechanism.

During the pandemic, a total of more than 136 000 cases were detected in Paraguay, of which 2,700 resulted in death.
