Transmashholding to buy plant in Norway

Transmashholding will buy Bergen Engines' diesel and gas-fired medium-speed engines plant in Norway for 150 million euros.

The plant includes a precision casting shop, metal processing and assembly facilities, service centers in seven countries, a repair shop and a design bureau.

Bergen Engines in Bergen will operate as an independent division of Transmashholding with its head office in Switzerland.

Today the Russian company has international branches in Argentina, Egypt, Germany, Israel, Cuba and South Africa.

Since 1946 Bergen Engines has supplied more than 7 thousand engines for marine and power customers all over the world, and approximately 4 thousand are still in operation. The company employs 950 people.

Gas-fired medium-speed engines are used in off-grid energy systems that supply power to small communities or large businesses. Transmashholding expects to increase its presence in the global diesel market with this deal. "Bergen Engines as part of the Russian company will operate as an independent company. The deal is expected to be closed in the second half of this year.
