Segezha Group will upgrade chipping equipment in Karelia

The sawmill asset of Segezha Group, Karelia Wood Company, is upgrading, and a new German-made chipper will be sent to the republic. The machinery will replace the old worn-out equipment.

The capacity of the new equipment is up to 20 dense cubes per hour.

The technique is designed for shredding lumpy waste from sawmill trimming. The machine will also make rational use of by-products and sawmill residues as it turns them into fuel chips that are used to heat the boiler room of the company. The company claims that this increases the overall energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the production process.

Anton Tskhai, general director of the Karelian company, said that the company had reached an agreement with the manufacturer to replace the chipper at the dry sorting plant. Delivery of two new front-end loaders is scheduled for February, and during the year several more important units and assemblies will be renewed.

The production volume of the enterprise is gradually increasing. For example, last year it produced 112 thousand cubic meters of lumber. This is about 5% higher than in 2019.
