Russian company NOVATEK opened the first carbon-neutral LNG filling station in Europe

The first carbon-neutral liquefied natural gas (LNG) filling station appeared in the German city of Rostock. It was opened by Novatek Green Energy, a subsidiary of Russia's NOVATEK.

The carbon units, or so-called "carbon offsets", will be used to offset the carbon footprint that is produced when consumers burn the LNG.

The detailed emission offset portfolio includes wind generation projects in developing countries.

In the future, NOVATEK plans to establish a network of filling stations in Europe with environmentally friendly fuel for trucks, including in Germany and Poland. Currently the company has six filling stations and 19 regasification units in the European market.
