Russia sets record for non-energy exports at $161 billion

Last year, Russia exported more than $161 billion worth of non-energy products, which is an absolute record.

Such results were summarized by the analytical center of the Russian Export Center (REC). It is noted that this type of exports for the third year in a row updates the absolute record.

A year earlier, this figure was $155.1 billion, and in 2018 it was $154.3 billion, said Veronika Nikishina, director general of the REC.

Metal products (20.8%), engineering products (17.7%), food (17.3%) and chemical products (16%) accounted for the bulk of this export structure.

Wheat has shown the highest growth in agro-industrial exports, with deliveries outside the country increasing by more than USD 1.8 billion. It is followed by sunflower oil, the export of which rose by more than $600 million.

It is worth mentioning that the country's agricultural sector harvested the second largest grain crop in the history of the country and the problem of food supply became especially acute because of the pandemic and quarantine.

An increase was also recorded in supplies of polyethylene, which showed an increase of 449 million dollars compared to the previous year.

China ($16.4 billion), Kazakhstan ($12.3 billion), Belarus ($9.4 billion), Turkey ($8.1 billion) and the Netherlands ($6.2 billion) imported the most goods from Russia.
