Russian wheat exports up nearly 26% in January

Russian wheat shipments outside the country increased by 25.8% to 2.2 million tonnes in January compared to the same period last year, Rosstat data show.

Exports of grain and leguminous crops (excluding corn) rose by 20.2% to 2.8 million tons. Supply of corn decreased by 1.5% and amounted to 489 thousand tons.

As of February 1, stocks of cereals and leguminous crops (excluding corn) in agricultural organizations exceeded 18 tons. This is 7.4% more than last year. Wheat stocks have also increased - plus 19.1% (11.5 million tons), corn stocks have grown by 9.3% and crossed the mark of 3.1 million tons.

Since the middle of last month, Russia imposed an export duty on wheat. From February 15 to March 1, it was 25 euros per ton. From March it was raised to 50 euros per ton.

From March 15, the duty of 25 EUR for export of one ton of corn and 10 EUR for one ton of barley.
