The Russian vaccine Sputnik V has become the second most popular vaccine against coronavirus infection in the world.

According to the developers, the vaccine became the second most popular by the number of approvals from regulators.

First place went to AstraZeneca, which was approved in 49 countries. In third place was Pfizer with 43 countries approving it.

On Thursday the European Medicines Agency (EMA) started its review of the domestic vaccine Sputnik V. Evaluation of the drug, according to the European regulator, will take place within a shortened period of time.

Sputnik V has now been approved in Hungary and Slovakia. These countries have approved the use of the vaccine without waiting for the registration of the drug in the European Union.
