Synthetic fiber in Chelyabinsk will be made from recycled materials

Vtor-Com has opened a new facility in Chelyabinsk where it will produce synthetic fibers from plastic bottles. More than 420 million rubles have been invested in the project.

This will give an additional impetus to the development of separate waste collection and improve the environmental situation in the region. The total budget of the project exceeded 420 million rubles.

According to Vtor-Kom, now there is a shortage of synthetic fiber in the country. About 60% of this production is imported to Russia from China, Belarus and South Korea.

Due to the launch of the new plant, the import share will be reduced and the fiber production capacities will double up to 24 thousand tons a year.

Synthetic fibers are currently used mostly for production of nonwoven materials, such as geotextiles for road construction, oil and gas industry, general construction and landscaping. Such materials also serve as a base for linoleum, roofing and carpeting, noise and heat insulation.

In addition, fibres are often used as raw materials in the production of sintepon or as the filling of blankets, pillows, toys, upholstered furniture and mattresses.
