MTS launched Russia's first 5G pilot network in Moscow

MTS has switched on a pilot 5G user network in the 4.9 GHz band in 14 popular locations in Moscow. This was reported by the company's press service.

It is noted that the network covers, for example, Central Department Store, Nikolsky Passage, Zaryadye Park, TSUM, MHAT, Tverskoy Boulevard, Gorky Park, Museon, Krymsky Bridge. The square next to the building of Moscow State University, Frunzenskaya and Prechistenskaya embankments, the observation point on the Sparrow Hills and the All-Russian Exhibition Center were also included.

The owners of smartphones supporting 5th generation networks, who are the subscribers of MTS, will be able to use unlimited 5G Internet with the speed up to 1.5 Gbit/sec.

The participants will be automatically selected for the pilot on the basis of impersonal data analysis.

It will be possible to test the 5G network, for example, while loading heavy content or playing cloud games. In the process, the MTS experts will improve the 5G infrastructure, its compatibility with the subscriber equipment and evaluate what factors affect the quality of services.
