Production of greenhouse vegetables in Russia has increased by almost a third since the beginning of 2021, according to the website of the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.

Now the rate of production of protected ground vegetables is significantly higher compared to last year. So, at the beginning of March agrarians have grown in winter greenhouses more than 172 thousand tons of vegetables. This is 29% more, as compared with the same period in 2020. At that time the volume of crops was 134.1 thousand tons.

It is noted that the harvest of cucumbers exceeded 106 thousand tons (13% increase) and tomatoes - nearly 65 thousand tons (more than 70% increase).

The top-10 production of vegetables in winter greenhouses is in Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Novosibirsk region, Krasnodar and Stavropol Territory, Karachaevo-Cherkessia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.

Last year's gross harvest of protected ground vegetables was about 1.5 million tons, which is 12% more than in 2019.
