Media: Apple has agreed to pre-install a Russian search engine on its gadgets
Apple has agreed to pre-install a Russian search engine on its devices sold in Russia.
This information was confirmed to Vedomosti by the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation and the Russian office of Apple.
Users will be offered to install applications from a government-approved list when they first turn on their gadgets. However, it will also be possible to refuse to install them by unchecking the checkboxes.
In addition, according to the department, they are now negotiating with Apple on the creation of a selection of promising domestic applications in the App Store. The foreign company stressed that they comply with local laws - all the applications are subject to mandatory checks for compliance with standards of confidentiality, security and content.
On Monday, it was reported that the Ministry of Information plans to oblige gadget manufacturers to install domestic search engines in the default browser.
