Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant will produce sea containers

Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant (CHTZ) UralTrak has started mastering the production of universal sea containers. To date, the company has already produced a prototype that has successfully passed factory tests, according to the website of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

The company has decided to produce new products for sea transport against the background of the increased demand for container transportation of small consignments during the pandemic.

Based on last year's results, the plant was able to build stable operations, resulting in a 40% increase in total revenue compared to 2019.

According to Vladimir Lebedev, Acting General Director of UralTruck, this year's demand for 40-foot sea containers is estimated at 1,000 units. He called this market a promising one and expressed confidence that the launch of the new production line will be a good help for the plant.

The line for production of containers was launched in the welding shop, where engineering machines are produced. The employees received additional training beforehand in order to make containers that meet the requirements of the Russian Maritime Register of Shipping. In particular, the document implies special standards for welding and materials.

The first prototype has already been tested for durability and water resistance.

By the end of May the plant is planning to produce three more prototype containers for further serial production and transportation.
