Organic goat milk and cheese will be produced in Yaroslavl region

AgriVolga agrarian holding company acquired a herd of breeding goats in Austria. Next year the plant will produce organic goat milk and cheese from it.

For this holding company has bought 150 purebred pedigree goats and 9 heads of pedigree Tuggenburg goats from the Upper Austrian goat breeding association. The animals are noted for their endurance, high milk yield, fertility, and they also tolerate different weather conditions, and with each new generation of goat immunity becomes stronger.

As general director of the farm Elena Yashayeva explained, it is a dairy breed of goats. There are no suppliers of such cattle in our country now.

The company has never produced goat milk before. However, in recent years, according to Yashayeva, demand for such products has become higher, including for medical reasons.

Toggenburg goats have been bred in Switzerland for centuries. The special qualities of the animals include endurance and unpretentiousness; they are well adapted to the cool climate. Milk yields range from 400 to 1 thousand litres. The breed is being bred in about 50 countries.

The Russian farm expects to produce 500 to 1 thousand liters of milk daily.
